Home Jewish Family Services Transportation Assistance

Transportation Assistance

If you have a special need, Jewish Family Service can arrange to provide volunteer drivers and/or taxi coupons.

Jewish Family Service has a small group of volunteers through our Caring for Y’all program. These volunteers are willing to provide transportation using their personal vehicles. This is to assist with special needs, not regularly occurring appointments.

Examples of special needs are:

  • Doctor’s appointments after surgery
  • Doctor’s appointments for procedures requiring sedation
  • Job interviews when bus transportation is not reasonable.
  • Please call one week in advance so we have time to line up volunteers.

Taxi Coupons
Taxi coupons may be available for special needs (as mentioned above) when it is not plausible to use volunteer drivers.

Mini-Bus
The Jewish Federation of Greater Baton Rouge coordinates use of the mini-bus.
The wheelchair-accessible bus holds 14 people, 12 if its two wheelchair spaces are taken. The bus is currently used for Federation sponsored events, such as Terrific Tuesdays, Jewish Film Festival, Second Night Seder, and High Holiday Services (not for Shabbat Services).
